Your first visit, in two minutes

Booked your initial evaluation? Here's everything you need to know — and there's almost nothing to do.

1

What to expect

Your first visit lasts 60 minutes, at your home. Your physiotherapist starts with a conversation — your history, your pain, your goals — then assesses how you move: strength, mobility, balance. You get a clear explanation of what's going on, hands-on treatment the same day, and a personalized plan with exercises matched to your level.

2

How payment works

The visit is a flat $150 — travel included, no taxes, no hidden fees. Your card on file is charged the day after your visit, and an insurance-ready receipt is emailed to you. Most private plans reimburse physiotherapy from an OPPQ member — submit the receipt and you're done. No forms at the door.

3

How to prepare

Almost nothing. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Clear a small floor space — about 2 m², a living-room rug is perfect; your physio brings the treatment table and all equipment. Have your insurance info and any medical reports handy if you have them. (And no — you don't need to tidy up for us.)

First-visit checklist
  • Comfortable clothing — shorts for a knee or hip issue, a tank top for shoulder or neck
  • About 2 m² of clear floor space — we bring the table and everything else
  • Insurance info, if you plan to claim (insurer name + policy number)
  • Your medication list
  • Any imaging results, medical reports, or a doctor's prescription if you have one
  • Pets are welcome to say hi — then ideally in another room during treatment
  • A family member is welcome to be present, especially for seniors

Your first visit

6 questions
What happens during the first appointment?
It's a 60-minute initial evaluation at your home. Your physiotherapist reviews your history and your goals, assesses your movement — strength, range of motion, balance, and the specific tests your condition calls for — explains clearly what's going on, and starts hands-on treatment the same visit. You finish with a personalized plan and exercises adapted to your home. Nervous about a first appointment? That's normal, and it's one of the reasons patients prefer being at home: familiar space, no waiting room, one-on-one for the full hour.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Shorts help for knee, hip, or ankle issues; a tank top for shoulder or neck. Since you're at home, you can change in seconds if needed — no clinic changing rooms.
Do I need any equipment at home?
No. Your physiotherapist brings a professional treatment table and all the equipment your treatment needs. Your exercise plan is built around your actual home — stairs, chairs, walls, whatever you have — so you don't need to buy anything.
How should I prepare my home?
A clear space of about 2 m² is enough — the living room usually works perfectly. If you have pets, they'll want to help; treatment goes faster if they supervise from another room. That's genuinely all.
Will the treatment hurt? Will I be sore afterwards?
Physiotherapy shouldn't be painful, though some techniques and exercises work close to your limits. Mild soreness for 24–48 hours after the first couple of sessions is common and normal — like after a good workout. Sharp or worsening pain is not, and your physiotherapist will always adjust to your feedback. You stay in control the whole time.
How long are appointments?
The initial evaluation is 60 minutes. Follow-up visits are 45 minutes — focused, hands-on, one-on-one. Telehealth follow-ups are 40 minutes.

Booking & appointments

9 questions
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. In Quebec you can see a physiotherapist directly, without a referral — physiotherapists are autonomous professionals regulated by the OPPQ. One nuance: some insurance plans require a doctor's prescription for reimbursement. Check your plan; if it does, get the prescription before your first visit so your receipts qualify.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Most Greater Montreal addresses have openings within the week, often within 48 hours. Real-time availability appears as soon as you start booking and enter your postal code. No waitlist, no triage call.
What are your hours? Do you offer evenings and weekends?
Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 20:00 — including early evenings and Saturdays, because injuries don't keep office hours.
Can I book for a parent or someone else?
Absolutely — many of our visits are arranged by a son or daughter for an aging parent. Book at the patient's address rather than your own, and feel free to be present during visits. If stairs, balance, or a recent fall are the concern, mention it in the booking notes so the physiotherapist comes prepared.
Where can you treat? Homes only?
Anywhere you are: houses, apartments, condos, seniors' residences, hospitals — even your workplace. We also offer corporate services. For business locations, we just need an authorization from the facility or employer first.
Which areas do you cover?
Around 70 neighbourhoods across Greater Montreal: the Island of Montreal, West Island, Laval, North Shore, and South Shore. Travel is always included in the price. Enter your postal code on the booking page to confirm your address in seconds. If your address sits at the edge of our zones, we'll confirm a therapist can reach you shortly after you book — and if we can't cover you, we'll let you know quickly and won't charge you.
Might you ask to change my appointment time?
Occasionally, yes — and we'd rather be upfront about it. Because your physiotherapist travels between homes, we sometimes ask to shift a booking by a little to keep their route workable, especially around traffic. For the same reason, a therapist may arrive up to about 15 minutes later than scheduled on a busy day. We'll always contact you first, and you're free to keep your original time or pick another. It's the one real trade-off of care that comes to you instead of you going to it.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens — cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge. Inside 24 hours, a cancellation incurs 50% of the visit fee ($75), because your physiotherapist has reserved the time and the travel for you. If something genuinely urgent comes up, tell us — we handle real emergencies case by case.
Do you serve patients in English and French?
Yes — service in both languages, at your choice. Describing pain and symptoms is easier in your own language, and that matters when care is hands-on. Let us know your preference and we'll match you accordingly.

Pricing & billing

5 questions
How much does a visit cost?
$150 flat for an in-home physiotherapy visit — initial evaluation or follow-up, travel included, no taxes, no hidden fees. Telehealth follow-ups are $100. What you see is what you pay.
Why is the price flat? Isn't home care more expensive?
We keep one simple price with travel built in. Compared with a clinic, you're not paying for reception desks and treatment cubicles — you're paying for a full hands-on session and a physiotherapist's full attention, without leaving home. Most Montreal clinics charge $100–160 per visit before you've driven, parked, and waited.
How and when do I pay? What methods do you accept?
You keep a card on file, and it's charged the day after each visit — nothing to do at the door, no terminal, no interrupting your treatment to pay. Prefer not to use a card? We also accept Interac e-transfer and cash. We don't accept cheques. Your receipt arrives by email after each visit.
Is there tax on physiotherapy?
No. Physiotherapy provided by a licensed physiotherapist is GST/QST-exempt in Quebec. The price you see is the full price.
Should I tip my physiotherapist?
No — physiotherapy is a healthcare service, not a spa service. Your receipt is a healthcare receipt. The same goes for massage therapy booked through us.

Insurance & coverage

6 questions
Is physiotherapy covered by my insurance?
Most private and group plans in Quebec reimburse physiotherapy, typically 50–100% of each visit up to an annual maximum. Because every physiotherapist at Physio Vibe is an OPPQ member, our receipts are valid with all insurers. Two things worth checking in your plan: your annual maximum, and whether a doctor's prescription is required for reimbursement.
Do you bill my insurance directly?
We don't — and here's exactly how it works instead: your card is charged the day after your visit, an itemized insurance-ready receipt is emailed to you, and you submit it to your insurer (most insurer apps take under two minutes). You always have your own receipt on file, and there's never a claim surprise at the door.
Is physiotherapy covered by RAMQ?
A question we hear a lot — and the honest answer is no. RAMQ only covers physiotherapy inside the public network (hospitals and CLSCs), where waiting lists often run months to years. Private physiotherapy, at home or in clinic, is not covered by RAMQ. If you don't have private insurance, keep your receipts: physiotherapy qualifies for the medical-expense tax credit.
I was injured in a car accident (SAAQ file). Can you treat me?
Yes. You'll need a doctor's prescription for physiotherapy, and the SAAQ reimburses a fixed amount per treatment (currently $64) directly to you — you pay for your visits and claim from your file. Some private plans top up the difference. Bring your claim number and prescription to the first visit and we'll make sure your receipts have everything the SAAQ needs.
I was injured at work (CNESST file). Can you treat me?
We don't handle CNESST files at the moment. For a work-injury file, the CNESST can direct you to an approved clinic. If you also have a private condition to treat outside the CNESST file, we're happy to help with that.
Are massage therapy receipts covered by insurance?
Our massage therapists issue receipts recognized by most insurers (massage therapy is usually a separate category from physiotherapy in your plan, with its own annual maximum). Check that your plan includes massage therapy coverage.

Our physiotherapists

4 questions
Are your physiotherapists licensed?
Yes — every physiotherapist is a member in good standing of the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ), the professional order that regulates physiotherapy in Quebec. They're also insured and identity-verified.
Is it safe to have a physiotherapist come to my home?
Yes. You know exactly who is coming and when — name and credentials before you confirm. Treatment follows the same professional standards, hygiene protocols, and OPPQ code of ethics as any clinic.
Can I choose my physiotherapist? Will I keep the same one?
Yes — when you book, you see each available physiotherapist's name and qualifications and pick the one that fits, and we keep you with the same physiotherapist across your treatment plan whenever we can. If yours is ever unavailable (vacation, illness), we'll let you know in advance and offer a colleague with the same expertise so your recovery doesn't stall — the choice to wait or switch is always yours.
What if I don't feel it's working?
Tell us — really. Your plan is reassessed as you progress, and if your recovery needs something different (imaging, a physician, another specialty), your physiotherapist will say so and point you in the right direction. Paying for sessions that aren't helping serves nobody, least of all you.

Services & treatment

8 questions
What conditions do you treat?
Back and neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, sprains and tendinopathies, vertigo and balance problems, chronic pain, mobility loss in seniors, post-stroke and neurological rehab, and more. If you're not sure physiotherapy is what you need, call us at 438-802-8423 — we'll tell you honestly.
Do you offer massage therapy?
Yes — massage therapy at home is available in select regions. Check which services are available in your area on the booking page. Sessions from 60 to 120 minutes, including duo sessions.
Physio, osteo, chiro, massage — which one do I need?
For pain, injury, or movement problems, physiotherapy is the evidence-based starting point — and in Quebec it's a regulated health profession (OPPQ), which also means your insurance receipts are straightforward. Massage therapy is excellent for muscle tension and recovery, and can complement treatment. If your physiotherapist believes another professional would serve you better, they'll tell you.
Can two people in the same home be seen?
Yes. We can see a partner, a child, or a parent in the same visit — usually as back-to-back appointments, and in some cases by splitting one session between two people. Add the second person when you book, or just tell us and we'll set it up.
How many sessions will I need?
It genuinely depends, and anyone who quotes a number before assessing you is guessing. As honest ranges: recent sprains and simple injuries often need 3–8 visits; chronic or long-standing issues 8–16; post-surgical rehab can run longer. After your first evaluation you'll get a real estimate for your case — and the home-exercise plan is designed to make you independent, not to keep you booking.
Do I get exercises to do between sessions?
Yes — and it's the highest-return part of your treatment. After your evaluation, your physiotherapist sets up a personalized home-exercise program in your patient portal: the specific movements for your condition, at your level, about 10–15 minutes a day. What you do between visits is roughly half your recovery, so your physio updates the plan every session to keep it effective without getting overwhelming. Traveling or stuck without equipment? Ask and we'll give you substitutes.
Is home physiotherapy as effective as a clinic?
Yes. Research comparing home-based and clinic-based rehabilitation (including after surgery like knee replacement) finds equivalent outcomes — what predicts recovery is doing your program consistently, not the address. At home, your physiotherapist sees your real environment — the stairs you actually climb, the chair you actually sit in — and builds your plan around it.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes — 40-minute video follow-ups at $100, useful for exercise progression and check-ins between hands-on visits.
